About Me

Demis D. John proposed and launched the now-ubiquitous ultra-low-loss silicon nitride waveguide platform, with the research groups of Prof. Daniel Blumenthal and Prof. John Bowers at U.C. Santa Barbara. He also worked oņ InP Photonic Integrated Circuits, and later on MEMS-Tunable VCSELs with Praevium Research (now Thorlabs). He has expertise on GaAs, InP, GaSb, LiNbO3, Silicon and related waveguide platforms, VCSELs, and related semiconductor-based photonic solutions.

Demis has also launched numerous semiconductor workforce training/outreach programs, from 8th grade, community-college/vocational projects, up to undergraduate-level courses.
